     Call for Donation
HELP in Microsoft 2009 Giving Campaign

HELP (Human and Environment Linkage Programme) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving human and nature conditions in destitute areas.  HELP is committed to improve the well being of people who live in destitute areas and the health of our Mother Nature. If you are passionate about both poverty alleviation and environment protection, HELP is the right organization for you!

In the past three years, HELP has worked hard to improve the education and health conditions in Wolong Nature Reserve, Sichuan, China, with the hope that such efforts may eventually benefit the natural environment and the wild pandas.  With strong supports from our generous donors in the last year, HELP has successfully accomplished many mission-driven earthquake relief projects.  In this holiday season, we hope we can count on your generous heart again to bring warmth and blessing to the people struggling far below the poverty line.

Transparency is what we commit seriously to all our advocates. We send out quarterly reports to donors detailing what projects we worked on, who benefit, and how much we spent. If you read our reports, you will find revealing numbers. In the past year, there are more than 2, 000 people benefited from our field projects. And we achieved them by merely spending $20,000 with $0 administrative and $0 operational cost.

This is because HELP has its own approach of “Doing Good”, we work:

1. End to End: We have a local volunteer team working in the field and providing prompt and first-hand information on what’s needed most and working actively on those priorities
    2. All as Volunteers: HELP is a pure volunteer based non-profit organization and we promise 100% of your donation will be used for project implementation

That is right, we are operating on a negative margin, which we feel really proud of.   As a pure volunteer-based organization, all our operational costs are covered by the donation from volunteers. We operate this way to make sure every penny of your donation is spent on the cause we both feel passionate about. We hope you can continue supporting us and choose us to be your surrogates to help poor communities and environment in the remote and destitute areas.

Besides, we provide timely reports and updates on our website -   www.HelpPanda.org.   We also publish photos taken during our work at: http://picasaweb.google.com/helppanda .

This year, we are again participating in the Microsoft Giving Campaign to raise fund for projects for minority groups in two mountainous areas of Sichuan province, China.  Please check out posters made by our volunteers for the projects that we are calling for your generous and important contribution.

First, we plan to continue our efforts on improving the health condition of the Tibetan and Qiang minorities in the post-earthquake Wolong Nature Reserve for Giant Pandas. The road to Wolong has been blocked again since Aug. 2009 due to a sereies of new landslides and the coming winter is going to be tough for the local community.   With your donation we can work with local township hospitals to bring medical consultation and medicines directly to the people stilling living in tents and boarded houses there.

Second, we hope to raise enough fund to bring winter beddings and clean water to a school with 300 Yi ethnic minority students and 7 teachers at a remote village in Liangshan Yi Prefecture of Sichuan pronvice, China.   Please visit our website for more information about these areas and our past efforts. Located in mountains at elevations of 1800 m, many kids didn’t have apparopriate clothes and shoes for cold weather till our first donation arrived at the school in last week. The 300 students and teachers barely have enough clean water supply in the past years. All these poor conditions that significantly compromised the health of the Yi ethnic minority chidren can be gretly improved with your financial support.

With great passion we, the team of HELPers, promise you to devote 100% of ourselves to helping the people in these mountainous rural areas. Your contribution is critical for us to carry on our mission and we will work hard to ensure your donation will be utilized in a most efficient way to help those people in need.
