HELP - Human and Environment Linkage Programme

We are again participating Microsoft Giving Campaign and hoping you can continue supporting us and choose us to be your surrogates to help poor minority communities in the remote and destitute areas. This year, there are 2 projects we are raising fund for(Please search “Human Environment Linkage Programme” when making donation):

1. Sponsor earthquake affected kids to stay in classroom in Wolong, Sichuan, China:

Over three years have passed since the devastating 5.12 earthquake. However, some families in the earthquake-affected areas, such as the Wolong Nature Reserve in Sichuan, are still struggling in poverty and trying to reconstruct their livelihood. This inevitably jeopardizes their children for equal opportunity of education. We are raising fund to help these students meet their basic financial needs to stay in schools for the year of. Currently, our dedicated local volunteer group in Wolong have identified 20 students as candidates for our sponsor program in Wolong and most of them are in middle and high schools.

2. Help improve drinking water quality in a Zhaxi, a Tibet village in Yushu, Qinghai, China:

Zhaxi village is located in Yushu Tibetan Prefecture, Qinghai, a remote plateau region in northwest China. The prefecture also suffered from a major earthquake in April 2010, although the Zhaxi village is fortunate to not be located close to the epicenter. Due to the harsh nature and fragile environment at an elevation of 4,000 meters, the ~800 Tibet residents there had to use ground water together with their livestock and the quality of the water is far below the national standard for drinking and other daily use purposes. It has caused and may cause more serious health issues in that region, especially for children. We are raising fund to help deliver environmental friendly water purification systems to improve the drink water quality for this village.
